boAt Unveils New Feature: 1st Pay Instantly from Your Wrist!

New Delhi: Imagine making payments as easily as checking the time. That’s what boAt, India’s leading wearables brand, is now offering. In collaboration with Mastercard, boAt has launched a tap-and-pay feature directly on its smartwatches.

Through boAt’s Crest Pay app, users can link their Mastercard debit and credit cards from supported banks. Once set up, a quick tap of the smartwatch on a point-of-sale (POS) device allows payments of up to Rs 5,000 without needing a PIN. This makes everyday transactions faster and more convenient. Mastercard’s advanced tokenization technology ensures each payment is secure.
Growing Market for Wearables
This feature is initially available for select banks but will expand soon. The introduction highlights the increasing demand for wearable tech in India. In 2023, the wearables market grew by 34 per cent, with smartwatch shipments surging by 73.7 per cent, reaching nearly 54 million devices.

Gautam Aggarwal, Division President for South Asia at Mastercard, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating that it enhances user confidence in wearable payments. boAt’s Co-founder and CEO, Sameer Mehta, sees this as a major step in making life easier for customers by pushing the boundaries of technology.
